Orientation

With the device on a flat surface in front of you, the proper operational orientation is with the row of braille cells closest to you. The panning controls are at each end of the braille cells.

Above the row of braille cells is the Dot 7 key (left), Space bar (middle), and Dot 8 key (right).

The six Braille Input keys are located close to the edge furthest away from you. The navigation pad containing the four directional buttons and the Select button is located between the Space bar and the Braille Input keys.

The Power button (left), SD card slot (middle), and Micro-B USB port (right) are located in a recessed area on the left side of the back edge.

Charge the Device

APH recommends fully charging the device before or during first use.

To charge the battery, plug the small end of the USB cable into the USB port with the bumps facing down, and insert the other end into a PC or the AC adapter.

Powering On and Off

To power on the device, press and hold the square Power button for 2 seconds. While turning on, the Orbit Reader flashes the first cell on the display.

To turn the device off, press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds. If the device is running on batteries and you do nothing with it for 10 minutes, it goes to sleep automatically to conserve power.
